I was torn between a rating of 3 or 4. The location of the hotel is perfect! It's a short distance from the Acropolis metro stop, the Acropolis museum, and many options for restaurants, coffee, ice cream, etc. There were several good things about the hotel, itself. It's an attractive building, with a comfortable lobby. The bartender and waiter in the rooftop hotel restaurant (The Peacock) were warm and kind hosts. The food was fine and the view at night of the Acropolis was also. We ate there two nights out of three, and that worked well after long walks during the day. The breakfast was good, in a spacious dining room downstairs, with some nice surprises such as panna cotta one morning. I was able to request some gluten-free bread, which I appreciated. The breakfast attendant was also pleasant and helpful. The front desk staff were polite, if not particularly cheerful. Now for the not-so-great stuff, starting with the least annoying. The view from our window was unattractive, basically being a concrete area surrounded by older looking apartments, with industrial vents and other apparatus. That's not a deal-breaker, but mildly disappointing. We also found some cleaning issues in our room and I spoke to the cleaner on our floor about those. Unfortunately, the electrical outlets were inadequate for two guests. There were three useable plugs in the room, not counting the lamps by the bed which were needed for light. One plug, on the floor, would have involved crawling under some furniture to use. My husband's CPAP used one of the two remaining plugs. To make the one other plug serve the remainder of our needs involved our using an extension cord that we had brought from home and using it to charge all six of our "smart" items--2 watches, 2 phones, and 2 tablets. For just one guest, the outlets might have been adequate if the person were careful with the battery use on electronic devices. If this shortfall can be remedied through re-wiring or renovations, the view from the room isn't worth worrying about and the cleaning problems could be fixed. Perfect Position for the Acropolis

Our Junior suite was ready for us early when we checked in. The view from the balcony was absolutely fantastic. This hotel is situated within just a few minutes walk from the entrance to the Acropolis, it is also in a perfect spot for lots of different restaurants and bars. The room was nicely decorated and all members of staff were very polite and friendly. We ate in the restaurant 1 night and the food and wine were very good. Would highly recommend this hotel for a visit to Athens but make sure that you get one of the high rooms at the front.

We were enchanted as soon as we entered the elegant lobby of the Hera Hotel. Our room was ready early so we checked out our Junior Suite Acropolis View Room on the 5th floor while our bags were delivered. A complimentary bottle of wine bearing their rooftop Peacock restaurant label awaited us. We popped the cork enjoying a glass on our balcony as we took in the view. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed and linens. The staff was helpful in making our reservations for visiting the acropolis and arranging our transfer to the airport in 2 days. Breakfast was included but our flight was early so they provided us with a nice breakfast bag to take to the airport. The location of the hotel was convenient to many cafes and restaurants, just steps away from both the Acropolis Musuem and the southern entrance to the Acropolis and easy walking distance to Syntagma Square, the Ancient and Roman Agoras as well as the Botanical Gardens. We loved the Peacock Restaurant. The food was so good we dined there both nights. Soup, appetizers, salad, entrees and dessert were outstanding. The appetizers, salad and dessert were easily large enough to split which we did.

The perfect location for a hotel

If you are gong to Athens you most likely want to see the Parthenon and Acropolis. If you are fortunate enough to be able to stay a few days the best view and most comfortable lodging is at the Hera Hotel. My beautiful bride and I got to spend two stays at Hera this month. Our room had the perfect balcony view of the Parthenon and it was such a charming place to stay. We stayed in room 501 and 502, a Junior Suite. The rooftop restaurant was fantastic, the morning buffet breakfast was plentiful and varied. And the staff, the staff was friendly and helpful. They arranged transfers from the Athens Airport (twice) and the transfers to and from our cruise ship. Centrally located to the tourist area, the Acropolis itself, the museum as well as the delightful old town Placa were just minutes away by foot. The highest recommendation goes to Hera Hotel in Athens.

Charming elegance. Our rooms were lovely. Our balconies were so spacious and looked out directly on the Acropolis, and other monuments were visible as well. The hotel is within walking distance of the Acropolis. The staff was open and friendly and always ready to help. We planned to visit the Acropolis, of course, and the manager gave us extensive advice on how to enter (there isn't just one way and the two are very different!) and what to see. The top floor restaurant is first class! Excellent food with unique dishes. Perfect service. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Okay, one bad thing. The elevator is reeeeaaally slow.
